The Beast of the Southeast: Tournament of Champions event held hosted by A5 Volleyball Club and held at Suwanee Sports Academy in suburban Atlanta. The 2009 invitation-only tournament brought together the best teams in the Southeast; including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and Kentucky, as well as over 40 college coaches, for two spirited days of competition and bragging rights as the Beast of the Southeast.
SOUTHERN VOLLEYBALL SHOWCASE ’09 COLLEGE RECRUITING COMBINE December 5, 2009 Suwanee Sports Academy
The Southern Volleyball Showcase, hosted by A5 Volleyball Club, and held at THE COOLER, is the South's premier recruiting combine. The 2009 event featured over 70 colleges and over 220 players in attendance. We expect that number to increase next year to over 300 players and 100 colleges. The "Showcase" allows players and parents exposure to college recruiters in an environment promoting the game we all love!
The Icebreaker Invitational Tournament, presented by A5 Volleyball Club, is the premier Southern Region tournament for SRVA teams exclusively. The Icebreaker is open to teams that placed in the Top 10 of the SRVA based on the previous year's rankings. With 64 teams under one roof at The Suwanee Sports Academy , the Icebreaker is poised to become one of the most competitive tournaments in the SRVA.
A5 is pleased to announce that four of the most experienced and respected coaches in the NCAA will be coming to Atlanta the weekend of January 9/10 to run a series of player clinics on Saturday, followed by a high school/club coaches’ clinic on Sunday.Dave Rubio (Arizona),Mark Rosen (Michigan),Wade Benson (Auburn) and Chris Lamb (Wichita State) will be teaching the same drills and techniques that are taught in the top collegiate programs.The coaches will put the players through drills that highlight techniques used in college that will enhance players’ skill development.The coaches will break down team systems in part drills and add creative and helpful progressions to help players in their understanding of the game.
Coaches will be taught state-of-the-art on-court drills and techniques and be given guidance about subjects ranging from Senior leadership to dealing with the unique psyche of the female athlete.
Drills, player development, parent issues, philosophy, practice planning, and system breakdown will be discussed and an open forum for questions will be provided.
